Ex-lorry driver Andy (55) spends his time doing up a neglected roadside cafe. His quiet life is thrown into turmoil when he surprises TJ, a homeless teenager, in an attempted burglary. Moved by his story, Andy takes him under his wing and they go in search of TJ’s family. Over the course of the road trip, they develop an unlikely friendship but also come to realise that they need each other if they ever want to lay the past to rest.
Just like in Offline and Le Ciel Flamand, Peter Monsaert has once again created a layered story about endearing characters in a film that centres around connection, hope and family roots. The truck driver is beautifully portrayed by the inimitable Koen de Bouw in his most vulnerable role yet, alongside young, talented Noa Tambwe Kabati.
